SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! It’ll be another hot day across the state with extremely hot temperatures still in the cards, but not all-time record heat like we saw on Sunday.
Today’s weather: Triple digit temperatures
Fortunately, we will start to get more cloud coverage as a monsoonal push revs up. Hopefully that provides some shade, but it will still be a scorcher. Daytime highs will still be in the triple digits across the north, with highs ranging from upper 90s to about 100° in higher valleys, and low to mid 100s across the Wasatch Front.
Southern Utah will generally run in the mid to upper 90s with low to mid 100s expected for the typical hot spots like St. George, Hanksville, Zion, and Moab.
Staying safe in the heat
Heat is the number one weather-related killer in the United States, so make sure you do what you can to stay cool. Wear loose light-colored clothing, drink plenty of water even if you aren’t thirsty yet, stay in the shade as much as possible, and limit strenuous activities.
Yesterday we began seeing power outages likely due to the overbearing demand for A/C. To help avoid more outages today, you can close your blinds and curtains, so your A/C doesn’t have to work as hard.

Extreme Heat Warnings are still in effect for most of northern and a good chunk of central Utah, including the Wasatch Front, Wasatch Back, Uinta Basin, Castle Country, eastern Juab/Millard Counties, and the Sanpete/Sevier Valleys. They’ll remain in effect through today and overnight, expiring Tuesday morning at 6 am.
Tomorrow’s weather: Moisture digs deep
On Tuesday, temperatures should inch a bit closer to normal but will still be above average. Temperatures will top out in the upper 90s to low 100s in northern Utah, mid to upper 90s in mountain valleys southern Utah valleys, and mid 100s for the regular hot spots. On Wednesday we plateau in the mid to upper 90s for valleys, where we will stay for the rest of the week…
