Scott County crash renews calls for drivers to slow down and move over for first responders

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Scott County’s fire marshal says I-75 is one of his department’s most dangerous call locations, and a crash Saturday that struck a fire engine and killed two people is a reminder of why.

Scott County Fire Marshal Joshua Cromer said crews were getting back on the fire truck after responding to a separate injury crash when a driver slammed into the back of the engine. The three firefighters sustained minor injuries.

The Scott County coroner identified the two people killed as 61-year-old Darren Nelson and 62-year-old Shauna Nelson of Knoxville, Tennessee. Two other people in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries…
