A Tennessee resident reported to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office that on July 9 he gave two Oglethorpe County men more than $26,000 in cash for an off-road vehicle, but they never provided the vehicle and now can’t be reached.
The 30-year-old resident of Corrytown Village, a community north of Knoxville, told a deputy that he met the two men in the parking lot of Ingles off U.S. Highway 29 in Hull. He had already paid the men $2,000 through Zelle for a towing fee back to his home, the report shows.
