BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Storm Branch Road bridge project has missed another deadline, this time a July target, as construction stretches into its third year. State transportation officials say they are now aiming to reopen the bridge before the upcoming school year begins.
Neighbors frustrated by extended closure
Longtime resident Dennis Holloway, who has lived near the bridge for about 40 years, said the detour has significantly increased his travel time.
“Just to get to that person, it was about 5 minutes. Now it takes about 20 to 30 minutes,” Holloway said.
