State police: Intoxication suspected to be a factor in crash that triggered closure of I-465 on east side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A crash triggered a closure of all lanes of Interstate 465 on the east side of Indianapolis Tuesday night.

According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, I-465 northbound was shut down at mile marker 40.3 sometime before 6:09 p.m. INDOT described the portion of I-465 impacted by the crash as being situated between North Shadeland Avenue and East 56th Street.

Per INDOT’s notification, the crash was reported by a Hoosier Helper. At least one person was reportedly injured in the crash.

Three of the roadway’s four lanes reopened around 6:50 p.m. All lanes of the road were open by 7:19 p.m. The total closure of the interstate was in effect for under an hour…
