City of Fort Wayne responds to proposed homeless center concerns

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The City of Fort Wayne responded to each resident who gave input on a proposed homeless resource center, according to a press release from Mayor Sharon Tucker’s office on Tuesday.

Replies from staff were written for more than 500 entries that are available to view here.

“The online engagement tool allowed us to answer more questions than we could have during a public forum and offered residents the chance to submit questions and comments any time of day or night from their phones or computers,” said Chief of Staff Andrew Downs. “We appreciate the input from the public and will use the comments to help shape the plans for the homeless resource center.”

The resource center is planned for 333 East Washington Boulevard near the Rescue Mission. The center will provide coordinated services to connect people experiencing homelessness with housing, job training and employment, and mental and physical healthcare, according to the press release…
