Publix Sued In Palm Beach County Over E. Coli Blueberries

The lawsuit, obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, comes amid a multistate outbreak investigation by the CDC and FDA into E. coli O145:H28 linked to the frozen blueberries, which are manufactured in Chile and sold exclusively at Publix. Health officials have confirmed at least 12 illnesses in Florida and Georgia, with onset dates stretching from May 11 to June 5. Publix recalled all 10-ounce bags of the blueberries with Lot Code 60401 on July 3, and the CDC has urged shoppers to check their freezers. Four victims, ranging in age from 2 to 88, have required hospitalization so far.

According to the complaint, Oscar and Roberta Cash bought the blueberries at the Publix on West Indian Town Road in Jupiter in May. Roberta soon developed bloody stools, abdominal pain, cramping, dehydration and fever, and was hospitalized at Jupiter Medical Center for ten days.
