Blount County votes on whether to help fund early land purchase for Pellissippi Parkway extension

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Blount County commissioners are set to vote Thursday on whether the county should contribute around $11 million to help the Tennessee Department of Transportation buy land for a planned extension of Pellissippi Parkway — years ahead of schedule.

The vote does not determine whether the road will be built. The project is confirmed to begin in 2036. Thursday’s decision is whether local government should help accelerate the right-of-way purchase process.
