WINNABOW, N.C. (WECT) – A gas leak in Brunswick County is causing major traffic delays Friday morning.
According to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the leak is happening at the Winnabow Fire Station on 15 Green Hill Road.
BCSO said both northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. 17 at Green Hill Road in Winnabow are closed to traffic. The department provided the following detour routes:
- Southbound U.S. 17 traffic:
- Old Town Creek Road to Town Creek Road to Crab Apple Road to Cherry Tree Road to Bell Swamp Road then return to U.S. 17
- Northbound U.S. 17 Traffic:
- Before NC 87/George II Highway intersection:
- Mill Creek Road to George II Highway to Funston Road
- Handee Hugo’s area:
- NC 87 to Funston Road to Dall Creek River Road
