‘That means someone’s loved one comes home’: Lubbock mother turns grief into advocacy

LUBBOCK, Texas — EverythingLubbock.com first brought you a story about Melissa Bond, a mother who lost her son, Timothy Bond Jr. (33), because of a motorcycle accident at 42nd Street and Memphis Avenue on March 6, 2026. Now she is turning her grief into advocacy, creating a nonprofit called ‘The Valor Project.’

‘VALOR’ stands for ‘Vigilance against loss on the roads,’ the name inspired because Timothy Jr. rode for ‘United Valor’

The organization will focus on pushing for stronger traffic laws and improving motorcycle safety to protect bikers so other families won’t have to go through tragedy like hers, Melissa said.

“If that means more stop signs, more cameras in places to catch reckless drivers, changes to the hit and run laws… Everybody needs to be held accountable for their actions,” Bond said…
