SOCORRO – Kirtland Central High School golfer Hayden Dan shot a 10-over-par 154 to capture solo second place in the Girls Overall division at the New Mexico/West Texas Junior Amateur Championship, which wrapped up Friday at the New Mexico Tech Golf Course.
Hayden Dan opened the multi-round tournament with a stellar 3-over 75 to share the first-round lead with eventual champion Mia Reyes of El Paso, Texas. She followed it up with a 79 in the second round to lock down a runner-up finish, ending the tournament just three strokes behind Reyes, who won the event at 7-over 151.
Also representing Kirtland, older sister Dallas Dan shaved three strokes off her opening-round score, carding an 85 on the final day following an opening 88. Dallas Dan finished with a 29-over 173, finishing just outside the tournament’s cut line…
