Most will stay dry on Monday with high heat and humidity. Isolated strong storms can’t be ruled out, especially in the higher terrain.
Better chances for storms will move in Tuesday night into Wednesday. Some of these storms could be severe with damaging winds, flash flooding, and maybe even the potential for isolated tornadoes.
- Tonight: Storm chances taper off late evening (20%) before another muggy night. Low: 73°.
- Monday: A stray storm is possible (20%); however, most stay dry but still feeling steamy. High: 90°.
- Monday night: Storm chances end early. Warm and muggy night. Low: 74°.
- Tuesday: Strong to severe storms possible, especially late (30%). High: 91°.
Chances for thunderstorms will taper off Sunday evening with the loss of daytime heating. An unseasonably warm and muggy night is expected with the potential for some areas of patchy fog. Overnight lows will fall into the lower to middle 70s.
Rain chances look limited for most areas on Monday. That being said, a stray pop-up storm cannot be ruled out in the afternoon and evening, just lower coverage than what we saw over the weekend. Any storm that does form could produce strong gusty winds, frequent lightning, and flash flooding. The best chance for activity will be across the higher terrain of the Cumberland Plateau and Smoky Mountains.
