LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One month after flash flooding inundated parts of Lexington near the University of Kentucky, a debate continues over what caused the flooding and whether nearby construction projects played a role.
On June 22, heavy rainfall sent water rushing through the area near Transcript and Press Avenues, leaving vehicles submerged and forcing some residents to be rescued from their apartments.

Ken Cooke, a former Kentucky Division of Water employee and environmental advocate with Friends of Wolf Run, believes the flooding needs a closer examination. Cooke said he’s concerned about the engineering models used for nearby development projects, questioning whether they accurately reflected real-world conditions.
“What I’m calling for is that we check the math of these consulting engineers who are working for these developers,” Cooke said…
