SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A Springfield woman is speaking out after she received a phone call from someone claiming to be a detective with the Springfield Police Department.
Samantha Cox said the caller reached her at work, told her that her daughter had been arrested for speeding, and directed her to a website to pay a $950 bond.
“I went into panic mode just thinking, oh my gosh, my daughter’s never been in trouble before and now they’re saying she has to spend 130 days in jail,” Cox said.
