Happy Monday! Plan on a hot and humid start to the work week before cooling things down on Wednesday. A heat advisory has been issued from 1 PM today through 7 PM on Tuesday. Heat index values will range between 100° and 110°. A cold front on Tuesday will clear out the heat and humidity beginning on Tuesday night.
Air temperatures will soar into the middle 90s today with heat indices in the low 100s. Skies will be mostly sunny and a light southwest wind won’t provide much relief from the heat today. There is a low chance for isolated pop-up showers east of Highway 65, but most spots will stay dry this afternoon. Temperatures tonight will stay warm in the upper 70s, so we won’t cool off either.
Tuesday will be the hottest day of the year so far. After a warm and muggy morning, temperatures will climb to the upper 90s and possibly 100° in some spots. Heat indices will exceed 100° and could be as high as 110°.
A cold front can’t come soon enough on Tuesday! A strong front will drop into the Ozarks during the day on Tuesday, causing winds ot shift to the north. The impacts will be gradual, so Tuesday will still be a hot day. However, Tuesday night will be cooler with temperatures falling to around 70°.
There is a slight chance of rain when the front blows in on Tuesday afternoon/evening, however most data keeps things dry in the Ozarks.
Wednesday will be a July treat with highs in the upper 80s along with lower humidity and sunny skies. Wednesday night will be comfortable in the upper 60s.
Temperatures will stay just below normal on Thursday, and we’ll reintroduce rain chances on Friday. The rain clears on Saturday and we turn the heat back up on Sunday into early next week…
