Judge allows evidence in Chattanooga man’s murder trial, weighs exclusion of Ring video

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Attorneys for a Chattanooga man are asking a Hamilton County judge to keep several pieces of evidence away from jurors when his murder trial begins.

But the judge overruled one of those motions Tuesday.

Lawrence Goodine is charged in the 2020 death of his girlfriend, Kara Akins. The case has been the subject of years of court proceedings after prosecutors alleged the former Chattanooga police officer killed Akins inside their home. (Goodine last served on the force in 2009)…
