Since arriving at Virginia Tech earlier this summer, new athletic director Brian White has hit the ground running. He has added some key pieces to the athletic front office, and that continued when he hired Mary Giardina.
She “will serve as a key member of Virginia Tech’s executive leadership team, overseeing strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations while partnering closely with White to advance the department’s priorities, strengthen organizational alignment and enhance the student-athlete experience,” according to a school press release. She comes with an extensive background in college athletics, before coming to Blacksburg.
She held leadership roles with the Atlantic Coast Conference, Duke, West Virginia, and Florida Atlantic. This continues the rebuild of the athletic department that was long overdue and will be better for athletics as a whole moving forward.
