SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A man serving a life sentence for a deadly downtown shooting has filed a motion to overturn his conviction.
Elysha Bedell filed the motion in Greene County Circuit Court this week, citing ineffective counsel. A jury previously found Bedell guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Chaviz Nguyen in November 2023.
Police said Bedell and four others fired shots from their car into Nguyen’s car after following him through Springfield. The shots also struck Nguyen’s pregnant fiancée. She and the baby survived…
