Madison businesses on Williamson Street staying open for the community amid protests

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – As protestors gather on and around Williamson Street, some businesses in the area have decided to close. However, many are also choosing to stay open, not for profit, but for their neighbors.

“Honestly, the priority was to be there for the community,” Taylor Swanson, General Manager of Gib’s said. “Like we’re probably not going to make anything in sales really, but that’s not the priority.”

On Williamson Street, trucks and barriers are blocking off parts of the road, but many restaurants, bars and businesses are still open…
