Permit hurdles delay new fun center near Southport

A family-friendly entertainment center coming to the Southport area is having some delays.

It is coming up on a year since Brunswick County approved the rezoning of a vacant property to become a fun center. Though the owners planned to wrap up construction by summer 2026, delays have pushed the opening date to next year.

Oak Island residents Ross and Jessica O’Donovan own the currently vacant, 3.30-acre property at 8573 River Road SE, right outside of Southport city limits. They plan to construct a new fun center named “Shore Shots” near existing offices and new residential homes…
