PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A suspected drunk driver fled Port St. Lucie police at nearly 80 mph in a 45 mph zone before he and his passenger abandoned their car and ran, with one suspect later found hiding on the roof of an occupied home.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, officers attempted to stop a white Acura after observing multiple traffic violations and signs of impaired driving. Instead of pulling over, the driver accelerated to nearly 80 mph in a 45 mph zone on Southwest Becker Road.
Police said the driver and passenger weaved in and out of traffic, ignored traffic signs and signals, then abandoned the vehicle in a residential driveway near Southwest Idol Avenue before fleeing on foot…
