An injured motorcyclist was rescued Friday night in the Boise Mountain Range after the Idaho Army National Guard’s State Aviation Group joined Elmore County Search and Rescue and Air St. Luke’s in a hoist operation in rugged terrain.
The UH-60 Black Hawk crew — Capt. Kate Smith, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Kevin Sears, 1st Sgt. Jared Gilstad and Staff Sgt. Brad Stock — responded after a male motorcyclist injured his arm and was bleeding heavily. Air St. Luke’s was unable to land in the area because of the terrain, and the Idaho Army National Guard was requested because its helicopters are the only hoist capabilities in the state.
