KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The extreme screen movie theater at Union Station was packed full Monday night for a public hearing on the rezoning plan that would pave the way for a new Royals stadium and entertainment district at Crown Center.
Many came with pointed questions about traffic, public financing, and whether their voices matter at all.
The hearing, held in the Regnier Theatre, is a required step in the rezoning process for the proposed $3 billion development. The Kansas City Royals and Crown Center Redevelopment Corporation are seeking to rezone nearly 91 acres near Crown Center to create what they’re calling a year-round ballpark district — replacing Hallmark’s corporate headquarters with a new 34,000-seat stadium surrounded by mixed-use development, renovated plazas, hotels, and more than 8,000 parking spaces…
