LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — The Good Fight Foundation distributed approximately 1,400 backpacks filled with supplies on the Lafayette Parish School System supply list to families in Lafayette as part of their sixth annual back to school drive.
The initiative aims to alleviate the financial strain of back-to-school shopping for families. Dustin Poirier, former interim UFC Lightweight champion and Founder of the Good Fight Foundation, highlighted the significant cost of school supplies, drawing from his own experience as a parent.
“I have a daughter in school,” Poirier said. “I just went school supply shopping for her. For one kid, it was like almost 400, 300 something dollars. You know, imagine a single mother with two or three kids going to school. I mean, this is crazy.”…
