Storm Track 3 Forecast: Temps return to average, increasing rain chances

A higher magnitude of heat is more common across southern Kansas today. Heat Advisories remain in effect until 8 PM Tuesday for heat indices to 106 degrees.

There is considerable cloudiness leftover from earlier showers and could hinder afternoon high temperatures. This should thin later in the day before clouds thicken over our western counties into tonight.

Another wave of energy will spark scattered rain, tracking from west to east later this evening. A random storm dropping a severe wind gust to 60 MPH is possible to the northwest. This activity should be largely benign. Any leftover rain over central and eastern Kansas runs out of gas in the morning.

Temperatures are gradually coming down. While the heat will be a touch inflated Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will continue to be drawn back closer to average into the weekend.

There will be a few more rounds of rain. Wednesday night, it livens up over the west and marches east into Thursday morning. Thursday evening, there will be a stronger disturbance that creates storms in Nebraska.

This will track southward into Kansas. Some of these storms may reach severe status primarily for damaging winds into Thursday night. A rather large Marginal Risk area has been drawn to account for the area most likely to be affected.

Highs into the weekend will be much more agreeable from the upper 80s to the lower 90s. Humidity values will also come down. This carries into early next week. We will be dry this weekend and into early next week. Another boundary may come into play to the north, slightly increasing scattered rain chances for the northern half of our viewing area first. This will be fine-tuned as we get closer to next Tuesday.
