COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A tattoo shop and a local couple are challenging South Carolina’s tattoo laws in a lawsuit, arguing the state’s restrictions are outdated and improperly limit protected artistic expression under the First Amendment.
The suit, filed by Tiny Zaps and two South Carolina residents, contends the state treats tattoos as “disfavored speech” rather than art and expression entitled to constitutional protection.
