LUBBOCK, Texas — Christopher Martin, 42, was found guilty Wednesday by a federal jury on a kidnapping charge for abducting a woman in Lubbock in July 2024.
EverythingLubbock.com previously reported that the victim worked at a gym where Martin was a regular. Court documents say that Martin claimed to be a “disciple” and traveled from state to state obtaining funding for different churches in a renovated van. The victim told authorities he wanted her to go with him to Ohio to visit his family; however, the victim did not feel comfortable going on the trip. Court documents said that Martin would show up at the gym multiple times and get upset with the victim. Martin was upset due to the victim telling him the relationship was over and threw the victim’s phone into the passenger side of his van. The victim attempted to retrieve her phone, but Martin forcibly threw her into the van. He then got in and drove away from the parking lot, refusing to stop.

Previous court documents revealed that the victim pleaded with him to return to the gym. Instead, he drove into the parking lot at Mae Simmons Park and began to physically assault her. He placed her in a headlock, grabbed her by the ponytail and dragged her back into the van when she tried to leave. Martin told her that she had “the spirit of Jezebel” and that she “messed with the wrong person.”…
