MEDINA, Ohio (WOIO) – Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center on Wednesday unveiled a new mobile advocacy unit aimed at bringing services directly to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking in Medina and Summit counties.
The unit was funded through grant money and is designed to remove barriers for survivors who find it difficult to seek help at a fixed location.
‘Meet them where they are’
Teresa Stafford-Wright, CEO of Hope and Healing, said reaching survivors requires going to them.
“It’s not always easy for people to ask for help, especially when some survivors don’t realize that they may be in an abusive relationship,” Stafford-Wright said. “The isolation that the offender causes them kind of disconnect them from family, friends, support systems.”…
