CHURCH POINT, La. (NEWS 15) — A Church Point family of eight was left without a home after a fire, believed to have started in an air conditioning unit, destroyed their mobile home and two of their pets died as a result, according to relatives.
The fire reportedly broke out on Thursday, July 30, around 7 a.m. According to a GoFundMe set up on behalf of the family, an air conditioning unit caught fire in the living room, and the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the entire home before the family could save any belongings.
All eight members of the Royer family escaped the fire without injury. The family includes Chris Royer, 33; his wife, Brittany Royer, 35; and their six children — a 16-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, a 9-year-old boy, an 8-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old boy…
