18-wheeler crash sparks fire on Baton Rouge interstate; 2 taken to hospital

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A portion of I-10 closed after an 18-wheeler fire was sparked by a crash into a guardrail early Friday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department stated that its crews responded before 3 a.m. on the westbound I-10 on-ramp to the Mississippi River Bridge at the I-10/I-110 split. The trailer was reported to be carrying a nonhazardous load of drink products.

According to BRFD, the driver and a passenger got out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived and were both taken to a local hospital for treatment…
