Developers plan to break ground this year on revival of Watch factory, former Walgreens in Rockford

ROCKFORD — A plan to revive the historic Rockford Watch Co. factory and another downtown building is moving closer to a groundbreaking after roughly three years of work to prepare for construction.

Oliver Emerson Development, a family-run real estate development team, expects to start construction in the fourth quarter of this year. They want to move forward with both building projects simultaneously with a goal to complete their work in 2028.
