KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — U.S. Representative John Rose seems to like his chances heading into next week’s gubernatorial primary with the congressman telling 6 News, WKRN’s sister station in Knoxville, that he has the momentum.
Now, he’s talking about Flock cameras, or automated license plate readers, which have become a hot button issue here in East Tennessee.

“I’ve spent my time in Washington trying to be a watchdog for protecting the privacy of individuals, so we know that these tools are very often misused, but they are useful and they can help prevent crime. And so, we don’t just throw the baby out with the bathwater,” said Rose.
The backlash to Flock cameras has been swift since Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs warned the Sheriff’s Office plan to install 270 of these devices could lead to the creation of what he called quote “a warrantless surveillance state.”…
