BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two separate fires caused minor damages Monday at the Hilton Garden Inn at Lafayette Square, officials said.
The first fire took place around 2 a.m. at 10 Lafayette Square due to a light ballast overheating. It was extinguished by the hotel’s sprinkler system before firefighters arrived. It started in a second-floor closet and did not spread from that area. The fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damages to the building and $10,000 to its contents.
Crews responded to a second fire at the hotel around 11:40 a.m., where officials said that firefighters “identified smoldering in a wall’s insulation” before controlling the fire…
