SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Wasatch Front has some of the worst air quality in the state right now, with most of the area being unhealthy for sensitive groups, and a few cities near Salt Lake being unhealthy under the Air Quality Index (AQI).
It’s not just the Salt Lake area with poor air quality, though Salt Lake does have it the worst. According to the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, air quality is expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups in much of the state until Wednesday: Carbon County, Davis County, Salt Lake County, Tooele County, Utah County, and Weber County.
According to the interactive map of air quality from the Environmental Protection Agency’s AirNow, at 8 a.m., the air in West Jordan, Midvale, Sandy, South Jordan, White City, and Draper was unhealthy. This means that everyone is likely to be affected, and some may experience negative effects on their health.

The AQI in Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake, Millcreek, Holladay, Murray, Taylorsville, and Bluffdale was unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children and teenagers, older adults, people with respiratory diseases like asthma, people with heart disease, pregnant people, and people with diabetes.
