A suspected Cleveland-area drug organization has been disrupted after investigators seized more than 3.4 kilograms of fentanyl, over 2.3 kilograms of cocaine and a stolen firearm. Two men identified as the operation’s alleged leaders were arrested following a two-month investigation spanning Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.
Curtis Williams, 40, also known as Kurt Werk, and Dayvoughn Ervin, 33, also known as Fatboo, were taken into custody Saturday on felony drug-trafficking-related allegations, according to Cleveland 19 News. Investigators said the group allegedly sold large quantities of drugs across the region.
Search Warrants Targeted Drug Packaging Sites
The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department said investigators executed warrants at multiple locations allegedly used to store and package narcotics, cash and specialized equipment. The searches also recovered more than 46 grams of crack cocaine, approximately $11,000 in cash and equipment used to process and distribute drugs.
The sheriff’s Narcotics Unit is responsible for investigating drug trafficking organizations, interdicting illegal narcotics and helping prosecutors build criminal and forfeiture cases. The unit also works with regional and federal task forces, including the Drug Enforcement Administration and Ohio High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas, according to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department.
Fentanyl Bust Comes Amid Changing Overdose Patterns
