LUBBOCK, Texas — After nearly two decades of service in Lubbock County, Judge John “Trey” McClendon announced his plans to retire.
The move is set to take effect on Friday, August 7, which marks the end of a close to 16-year career for Judge McClendon in the 137th District Court of Lubbock County. He is a Lubbock native and has spent over three decades in the judicial community across West Texas and the Panhandle.

Judge McClendon got his start in the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo and served as a Lubbock County Prosecutor before moving into his current role in the courtroom. He also operated a private practice alongside his father and brother during his time as a prosecutor.
