Heat Advisories are in effect for a few counties in the southwest through 9 PM Monday. This includes the cities of Liberal, Elkhart and Syracuse. Heat indices to 106 degrees are expected here. It will be cooler farther northeast within the state.
The air quality is also not been the best. Sunsets the last few nights and sunrise this morning have showcased wildfire smoke above. Those most sensitive will notice!
Storms will approach the northwest early tonight with a boundary. Storms should weaken but still be capable of producing gusts to 60 MPH. A Marginal Risk for severe weather has been circled for this possibility.
A few showers may linger over central and eastern Kansas Tuesday morning. The front lingers over Kansas on Tuesday. There will be a drastic difference in temps on either side of it.
South of the boundary temps will cook into the upper 90s and triple digits. Areas north of the boundary will be much milder in the 80s.
Scattered showers are possible near the Nebraska state line Tuesday evening with more isolated storms to the southwest. The front will wobble to the south into Wednesday.
This will enhance more scattered showers and thunderstorms by Wednesday evening. Wichita has a chance at this rain. There is a Marginal Risk circled near and to the northeast of Wichita for damaging winds and hail.
The front will keep slowly sliding southward late this week before tracking back to the north from Friday through the weekend. Temperatures will briefly dip for anybody on the northern side of this front only to heat up back to the 90s and some triple digits late this week and weekend.
The front will then start to move back south next week, enabling more scattered rain chances and a reduction in the heat.
