Two cold case investigations separated by decades and nearly 2,000 miles are drawing renewed scrutiny after authorities identified the same man as a key figure in both deaths, KCCI reported.
Police in Louisville, Kentucky, are seeking new information in the 1972 death of Joyce “Mable” Bridges after reopening the case and determining that her death was a homicide. Investigators say the renewed investigation comes as authorities in Oregon continue examining the 1993 death of John Bridges’ second wife, Astrid Bridges, which also has been reclassified as a homicide, Front Page Detectives said.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, Joyce Bridges was found unresponsive inside the couple’s east Louisville home on July 5, 1972. Authorities said there was no initial response from police or emergency medical personnel because her husband transported her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
