Mountains of garbage, a broken trash compactor and a growing parade of pests have turned daily life at a Northwest Atlanta apartment complex into a grim waiting game. Residents at Magnolia Park say the trash has been piling up for months, while affordable alternatives remain out of reach for many families.
Discarded mattresses, chairs and household waste have reportedly spilled beyond the dumpsters at Magnolia Park, creating what residents describe as landfill-like conditions near their homes. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that residents have complained of flies, gnats, rats, snakes and raccoons, along with health and safety concerns tied to the overflow.
Resident Cheri Mitchell told FOX 5 that she and her young granddaughter have been bitten by gnats inside their home. Mitchell, who relies on a fixed monthly Social Security income, said moving would likely require paying at least $1,200 a month elsewhere — leaving her feeling trapped until the property is cleaned…
