Tech problems impede juvenile’s case in Old West End shooting

A communication gap between two computer systems at the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office is holding up the transfer of key evidence to the lawyer defending a teenager charged as an accessory to the Old West End Festival shooting.

Patricia Wardrop, the assistant county prosecutor who heads the juvenile division, asked for “the mercy of the court” Tuesday morning because of difficulty she said she has had getting a copy of videos from the shooting scene that are loaded into the general division’s evidence storage system.

The Matrix system that the general division uses was not shared with the juvenile division when it was set up last year and is not compatible with the older system the juvenile division uses, Ms. Wardrop explained to Judge Amy Stoner…
