BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) — A Buncombe County man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service was taken into custody Tuesday, according to deputies.
James Eugene “JC” Cole III, 53, was wanted on failure-to-appear warrants tied to several charges, including methamphetamine trafficking and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to pull over Cole on July 28. Cole fled, leading deputies on a chase through Fairview. According to investigators, he abandoned his car after crashing it near the 900 block of Old Fort Road.
Cole was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Center on charges including:
- Fleeing arrest with a motor vehicle
- Methamphetamine possession
- Cruelty to animals
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Resisting a public officer
- Abandonment of an animal
- Speeding
- Reckless driving to endanger
- Fictitious or altered vehicle documents
