The city of Asheville is moving ahead with a streetscape restoration project in Biltmore Village to repair sidewalks, curbs and landscaping damaged by Tropical Storm Helene, with construction expected to begin in early 2027.
The first phase of the project will focus on restoring historic brick sidewalks, replacing or repairing granite curbs, installing ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, and removing and replacing trees deemed to pose a high risk. Work will take place along Biltmore Plaza and Kitchin Place, Boston Way and Swan Street.
Biltmore Village, a nationally recognized historic district at the entrance to the Biltmore Estate, was among the areas damaged by Tropical Storm Helene.
