Muscogee County schools placed on lockdown over safety concern

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Two Muscogee County School District schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday before receiving the all clear and resuming normal operations, the district said.

The lockdowns affected Richards Middle School and Clubview Elementary School on the third day of the school year. The district cited a “safety concern” as the reason for the action.

In a statement, the district said it received information about a potential safety concern in the vicinity of the two schools Wednesday afternoon.

“Out of an abundance of caution, both schools were immediately placed on lockdown, and parents were notified,” the district said…
