NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An officer’s department-issued handgun remains missing after it fell from his holster during a pursuit in Nashville Tuesday, leading to a woman’s arrest for stealing the weapon, according to court documents.
Maureen Stephenson, 26, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 3. after Metro police reported surveillance video captured her pocketing a weapon dropped by an officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Suspect sought after deadly shooting at West Nashville U-Haul
The officer had been running after a separate suspect when his handgun slipped and fell to the ground, according to arrest documents. He didn’t realize it was missing until after the chase ended and multiple officers began to look for the firearm without success.
