WPD: Two teens shot before crash near Wichita hospital

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Two teenagers were involved in a multi-vehicle crash near Wesley Medical Center on Wednesday evening after police say they were driving themselves to the hospital following a shooting.

According to Wichita Police Capt. Travis Rakestraw, officers were dispatched to the area of North Hillside Avenue and East Ninth Street around 5:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting and a crash.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a crash site that involved multiple vehicles.

In one of the cars, there were two shooting victims: an 18-year-old with critical injuries and another 18-year-old with minor injuries, Rakestraw said.
