Birmingham City Schools filling key vacancies ahead of new school year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – With the first day of school just around the corner on Monday, Birmingham City Schools leaders said they are in a much stronger staffing position compared to last year.

However, the district is still seeking to fill about 100 teacher vacancies and is reminding parents that student registration and transportation checks are critical to ensure a smooth start.

District leaders said they are working hard to fill the remaining classroom openings across various grade levels and subject areas. Despite these vacancies, officials emphasize that the district is starting the academic year in a far better place than last summer…
