TUCSON, AZ — Monsoon moisture is keeping thunderstorm chances elevated across southeastern Arizona, with the best rain chances centered east and south of Tucson but with the metro area also likely to see activity through the end of the week and into the weekend.
The storms could produce wind gusts above 60 mph, blowing dust, heavy downpours and isolated flooding. Forecasters say the pattern is expected to stay active into next week before temperatures begin to ease.
Where the rain chances are highest
The most favorable setup for storms remains outside the core Tucson area, especially toward communities east and south of the city. That means parts of Cochise County and surrounding desert terrain may see repeated thunderstorms as moisture continues to flow in.
Even so, the Tucson metro area is not being left out of the pattern. Forecasters expect a solid chance of rain to persist there through the end of the week, making this a broader regional storm threat rather than a narrowly focused event.
