COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after falling 20 feet from a scissor lift at a former automotive parts manufacturing plant near Galesburg, the Comstock Township fire chief said.
It happened July 30 at a manufacturing plant on E Michigan Avenue near N 33rd Street that had shut down in March. Comstock Township Fire Chief Matt Beauchamp said his crews were called to the scene around 9 a.m. that day for a man who had fallen about 20 feet from a scissor lift.

Workers at the scene said they had been removing a steel beam from the ceiling when it shifted and the scissor lift tipped over. The man was pinned against another upright steel beam, firefighters said. Workers were able to move the scissor lift using a forklift, freeing the man before first responders arrived.
When firefighters got there, he did not have a pulse. They did CPR and took him to the hospital but he later died, Beauchamp said…
