The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the city of Boulder are now standardizing evacuation alerts across the area and the Colorado Front Range so residents can quickly identify the meaning of the alert. The Hi-Lo evacuation siren will come from all patrol vehicles and it means it is time to evacuate the area. This helps to ensure that more people can hear the warning signal even if they don’t have cell phone service or aren’t signed up for alerts.
“When seconds count, people shouldn’t have to decode different phrasing from different agencies to understand what to do,” said Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn.
