EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a reported fire on a United Airlines plane at Eugene Airport just before 10 p.m. on Aug. 5.
According to Eugene Springfield Fire officials, crews were alerted to a possible fire in the rear stabilizer of an Airbus A320. At the time, only airline cleaning staff were on the plane and they got out before firefighters arrived. A full aircraft emergency response was sent to the scene. Crews used an elevated aerial platform to inspect the plane’s rear stabilizer but found no visible signs of fire. Firefighters then worked with maintenance personnel to re-energize the plane. A hot indicator showed up on the aircraft’s systems panel.
The plane was de-energized and moved away from the concourse to a remote heavy pad. It will stay there pending further inspection and maintenance…
